Course Synopsis

The full time course is designed for students who want to study and have a career in the performing arts. Students will study the core subjects of acting, filmmaking, singing and dancing, but also take part in a wide variety of masterclasses in
  • Music technology
  • Art therapy
  • Music thearpy
  • Lighting and sound
  • Costume design
  • Audition technique and practice
  • Directing
  • Stage management
  • Business classes
The course is spread over two years. After two years of completion students take their A level exams. The course is designed to prepare students for further studies in colleges in the UK and America. We put a strong emphasis on equipping students with as much skills and knowledge as possible to assist them in taking a career in the performing arts. We believe in students diversifying and gaining experience in as many areas as possible.

Isabella Kurek

SINGING Module

The Singing Module will cover following:
  • Stage Image of the Voice
  • Self esteem of own voice
  • Knowing your strong and weak points
  • Phonation, intonation, diction, tone/timbre, character of voice, aplying different techniques to one song
  • Communication – choir and ensamble members
  • How to warm up effectively
  • Overcoming anxiety and stage fright
  • Vocal style variety
  • Development of sight- singing
  • Vocal theory and physiology
  • Self-awareness, self confidence
  • Interaction, working in an ensemble
  • Emotional colors of voice
  • Research into styles, genre, song and character
  • Rehearsal and practice

Isabella Kurek Singing Teacher & Head of College

From her early childhood days Isabella Kurek has loved and studied music (singing, dancing, piano). She is widely educated in most areas of music with a focus on Musical Theatre as well as Piano, Solo Singing, Music Theory, Choral Directing and Variety Music Groups.

She graduated with a Distinction in Piano Class in Poland under the direction of Ms. K. Bujakiewicz. For three years she was a student in the Department of History at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, where she was studied Musicology. She attended training in Poznan and Krakow in the field of Vocal and Choral Direction. She has also graduated in Acting-Vocal Musical Theatre Studies in Katowice.

In Griffith College Dublin she completed a Higher Diploma in Arts in Music Education. Isabella is currently the Head of  B’Music School in Swords. She has extensive experience in the field gained from co-operating with Colleges, Cultural Institutions, Choirs, Vocal and Instrumental Bands in both classical and entertainment music genres. She also has wide experience in contemporary popular music and is constantly expanding her range to include music genres such as Musical Theatre, Soul, R&B, Gospel, Blues, Pop, Rock, Jazz. In 2018 she organised “Swords Got Talent”.

Isabellas students have won a numbers of medals, trophies and plates in piano, vocal and musical theatre areas in competitions such as:

  •  Sligo Feise Ceoil 2009 to 2018
  • Young Musician of the Year 2010 to 2018
  • Malahide and Balbriggan got Talent 2014 to 2019
  • Dublin Feise Ceoil 2008- 2017

Many of her students have gone on to study in music colleges and music universities.

Isabella is currently trying to develop her skills in Teaching music for children with light spectrum of autism, aspergers, ADHS, dyslexia an dyspraxia. She is now taking part of scripting and filming program to develop art of movie areas .

Her dream was always to lead children and  young people to express themselves and their beliefs through music .

In the near future Isabella is planning to delve further into the subject of  Musicotherapy.

So far Isabella has Produced the following musicals:

  • “Back to the 80 ‘ s”
  • “Spectacula Dracula”

She is preparing at the moment

  • “Into the Woods”
  • “High School Musical”
  • “Rock of Ages”
  • “Oliver Twist”

Shane O’Connor

Shane O’Connor has a degree in Music from the National University of Ireland Maynooth. He also holds a teachers diploma from the Royal Irish Academy of Music. His teaching experience boasts a 10 year period using the RIAM curriculum. He has played different genres of music from all types of musicals, traditional Irish music and his passion of jazz. The Cork Jazz festival, playing in Dubai and playing on the Late Late show have been the highlights and some of his most achievable performances. Shane continues to teach all ages and difficulties and continues to preform all around Ireland and abroad. 
 

Lauryn Gaffney

Lauryn Gaffney is a Vocal Trainer, Musical Director. Producer and Writer who has graduated with a B.A in Music and Human Development: Dublin City University. She studied vocal training in The Royal Irish Academy of Music under Maureen V Ward. She is currently a vocal trainer for Atomic Stage School,  B’ Music and Musical Director for Phoenix College of Performing Arts. Lauryn also regularly collaborates on songwriting projects with various artists. She received an ‘Arts Bursary Award’, an ‘Individual Contribution Award’  and a Kodaly Scholarship from Dublin City University and St Pats. She began Musically Directing in 2011 with the sell out show “DCU Glee Live” in the Helix Theatre and has not stopped since. Musically Directing various shows such as the first Irish production of  ‘American Idiot’, ‘Mamma Mia’, ‘Singin’ In The Rain’ ‘Snow White’, ‘The Wizard Of Oz’, ‘Grease’ ‘Fame’. Lauryn just finished a successful run Directing and Musically Directing ‘The Addams Family’ and ‘High School Musical’ with Phoenix Performing Arts College. Lauryn has created and composed the international award winning musical ‘Big Shot’ Described as ‘A theatrical storm worthy of a Tony Gong’​  (Irish Mirror). After winning the ‘Spirit of Fringe’ award in San Diego and Mexico Big Shot went on to perform in London. Big Shot had a successful six night run in The London Irish Centre in Camden, August 2016. After taking time apart from the show to write new music and teach Lauryn could not leave it to sit any longer and felt the show deserved another run. In Feb 2019, Big Shot had a sellout show in The Helix Theatre, Dublin. With a tony award winning producer (Ken Davenport) in attendance along with national and international media coverage it was a huge success ‘Destined for the great white way’ ​ (Broadway World) Lauryn’s dream was to bring her show to NYC. ‘BIG SHOT’ Had its ‘Off Broadway’ run August 2019 in New York City and Lauryn sold out her solo debut in ‘Broadway’s Living Room’-  54 Below. Lauryn thoroughly enjoyed directing and musically directing the cast of Back To The 80’s and hope the cast and audience enjoy the show!
 

Connor Armstrong

About the tutor: Conor Armstrong Sanfey ALCM, BA (Hons) is an award winning filmmaker and theatre director. His feature film LIFT went on to win awards world-wide and was released in the US and Canada this year. He has directed a string of hit shows around Ireland including the 2011 National Tour of Stones In His Pockets and the 2013 Irish Premiere of The Great Gatsby. Conor also runs his own courses StageScreen Classes and has directed a number of youth productions including Oliver Twist, Charlie and the Chocolate Factor, The Witches and recently musicals Aladdin and Dracula Spectacula for B’Music. Conor is also head of film and theatre in our new performing arts college opening in 2020.

 

Nawal Elbadri

Nawal  Elbadri, choreographer  and performer,  is  a passionate and creative dancer from  Dublin, Ireland. Nawal  is  a member  of  many  dance productions  including Prodijig  and  Lord of  the Dance. She has performed in numerous  productions, showcases  and competitions  around the world with numerous  dance company’s. She has  an array  of  dance credits  including  female lead role  in Prodijig:  The Revolution and Michael  Flatley’s  Lord of  the Dance. Most  recently  sh with Riverdance at  Croke Park  for  Pope Francis  visit  to Ireland. e performed Proudly  representing  Irish Dance along  with  a range of  other  dance styles, Nawal teaches  regularly  at  various  studios  and being resident  teacher  at  Dance Your  Way Studios  in  S words, Dublin. Through her  experience in many  of  the world’s  most  successful  dancing productions, Nawal  learned about  music, dance  and production as  well  as  knowing about  certain personalities  and how  groups  work  together  to reach  their  full potential  as a performer. By  traveling  the  world and having  worked  with many different  nationalities, it  has  helped Nawal  broaden her  mind to the ever  evolving Performing  Arts  Industry. 

 

Georgia Gaffney

Georgia Gaffney she  has performed in musicals such as ‘Grease’ as ‘Jan’ which was her all time favourite role. She also performed in ‘Back To The 80’s’ playing ‘Laura’, ‘Fame’ the musical, playing ‘Lambchops’, ‘Singing in the rain’ playing ‘Dora’ and the role of ‘Alice’ in ‘The Addams family’. Georgia has also performed in the chorus of the original musical ’Big Shot’ which performed off–broadway in New York this Summer 2019.
