Introduction to Music

Introductory music classes offers children an opportunity to learn the foundations of music in a fun, interactive, and friendly environment where their creative potential can be unleashed.

The programme uses a multi-sensory approach to introduce basic musical concepts where children are encouraged to be actively engaged with music through a combination of visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learning. Topics covered include introduction to pulse, rhythm, tempo, pitch, dynamics, structure, timbre, and musical literacy. These areas are explored in the context of listening and responding to music, basic composing and performing activities.

Children will be engaged in active music-making as well as responding to music, developing attention and listening skills, language skills, imagination and self-expression, memory, and co-ordination of mind and body. Musical exploration is encouraged in a group setting, developing social skills, self-esteem and confidence.
